Mog Asu Wine Bar: A Taste of Love and Community

Tucked into the charming Cove Shopping Center at 1 Blackfield Drive in Tiburon, Mog Asu Wine Bar is more than just a neighborhood favorite—it’s a space that’s near and dear to our hearts. Studio SQUIRE had the joy of designing this cozy, sophisticated spot, and we’ve been part of its story since the very beginning. All those nights we spent in wine bars in our 20s? Turns out that was just market research (can someone check if we can retroactively write off those bar tabs?). Jokes aside, we poured our hearts into every detail — from the warm lighting to the inviting furnishings — to create a space that feels like a unique home away from home. But the real magic of Mog Asu is the community that’s grown around it. In just a short time, it’s become a local go-to — where familiar faces gather, friendships are made, and celebrations big and small unfold. We couldn’t be prouder to have played a part in bringing this wonderful establishment to life. Be sure to show this unique local business some support and, of course, tell them we sent you!
This husband-and-wife-owned establishment is the vision of Fedric D’Costa and Emily Lund, who bring nearly two decades of experience in the food and beverage industry to their venture. Their commitment to creating a welcoming space is reflected in every detail of the wine bar, from the ambiance to the wine list. Studio SQUIRE worked closely with the owners to create a setting that balances contemporary elegance with cozy charm, making Mog Asu an inviting space for both locals and visitors.
The Story Behind the Name: “MOg Asu”
The name "Mog Asu," derived from Fedric's native Konkani language spoken in Goa, translates to "Let there be love." This sentiment is the foundation of the experience they’ve created at Mog Asu. Goa, a coastal state in India, is known for its vibrant blend of Portuguese and Indian influences — a rich cultural tapestry reflected in the warmth and hospitality of the wine bar. Emily and Fedric envisioned Mog Asu as a place where friends and neighbors can come together, share stories, and enjoy exceptional wines in a relaxed, intimate setting that embodies this sense of love.
PRO TIP: Be sure to order the Bebinca, a Goan dessert that is made by Fedric’s mother and shipped directly from India!

Exploring Unique Regions and Varietals
Mog Asu sets itself apart with a carefully curated selection, focusing on lesser-known winemaking regions. The wine list primarily features producers from France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Italy, offering guests a chance to explore unique varietals and flavors that go beyond the typical wine offerings. Additionally, the bar showcases wines from South America, Australia, New Zealand, California, and Oregon, bringing a globally inspired tasting experience to Tiburon. With 30 wines available by the glass on a rotating basis and 60 bottles to choose from, there’s always something new to discover, making each visit an exciting experience.
Perfect Pairings: Food Menu Highlights
To complement the diverse wine offerings, the bar also caters to all tastes with a selection of locally sourced microbrews and nonalcoholic beverages. The food menu, thoughtfully crafted to pair perfectly with the wines, features a variety of small bites and shareable plates. Guests can begin with simple yet flavorful nibbles like lightly salted pistachios and marinated olives, or dive into one of the beautifully arranged cheese and charcuterie boards. For a heartier option, the antipasto skewers, a crowd favorite, combine cured meats, cheeses, and marinated vegetables for the perfect bite. Light and vibrant dishes, like the chopped salad or hearty bean salad, offer refreshing options. Creamy dips, including crème fraîche dill dip and smoked salmon tzatziki, add depth to the menu, while caviar provides an indulgent touch. And for a sweet finish, the homemade bebinca—a traditional Goan-Portuguese layered dessert—offers a rich, caramelized finale that pays homage to Fedric’s heritage.

The space was thoughtfully designed to reflect the warmth and sense of community that Fedric and Emily envisioned, providing a comfortable environment where guests feel at home. The aesthetic thoughtfully balances contemporary design with intimate touches, ensuring that every visit is a pleasant escape.
A Community Hub
Since its soft opening in February 2025, the wine bar has quickly become a beloved part of the Tiburon community. Patrons praise not only the exceptional wine selection but also the genuine warmth and hospitality that Fedric and Emily bring to each guest interaction. Their dedication to making every patron feel like family, along with their personalized wine recommendations, has fostered a space where both novices and connoisseurs feel equally welcome. What started as a wine bar has quickly become a community hub, where connections are made over shared appreciation for great wine and good company.
The carefully curated environment enhances this sense of connection. Studio Squire integrated subtle design elements—like soft drapery, natural textures, and intimate seating arrangements—to create a space that encourages guests to linger, converse, and enjoy the experience fully.
In addition to the carefully curated food and wine offerings, the venue hosts a variety of engaging events, making it a dynamic destination. Whether it's lively bingo nights that bring an element of fun to the bar or live music performances that set the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed evening, there’s always something happening to keep guests entertained. Special tasting events, themed wine flights, and educational sessions led by industry experts offer guests the opportunity to expand their palates. Seasonal celebrations and collaborations with local artisans add an exciting and ever-changing dimension to the experience.

Happy hour runs Friday through Sunday from 2 PM to 5 PM, allowing guests to enjoy select wines and bites at special pricing. For those working in the hospitality industry, the wine bar offers Industry Nights, giving food and beverage workers 20% off their bill every Monday night. Bingo nights are every Sunday.
